Keep me entertained
The Happening Crew…is Virgin’s version of cruise director. Instead of you seeing one person scurrying from event to event, you will see a team of members instructing classes, getting you hype during evening events and just being the entertainment on the ship.
Ocean cruises are known for its Broadway-style productions and other nightly entertainment. Virgin does not fall short of that. The signature shows we saw were Duel Reality, and The Miss Behave Show. Each ship has a few different shows so I can’t wait to see those on my next cruise.
Duel Reality is a spin on the Romeo and Juliet story. When you enter the theater you choose a side, red or blue. And then you watch as the performers show their acrobatic skills throughout the show. I’ve seen my fair share of Broadway productions on cruises, but never an acrobatic routine.
The Miss Behave Show is a game show that is always different. Ensure you stay alert as the crew will be using the audience for participation.
The We Fancy party had all the dance floor jumping. From the crew decked out in gold attire and big fans, the dance routines kept the crowd in it.
I know you’ve heard about the PJ and Scarlet Night parties, right? The PJ night is typically the first night. So after the sailaway party, go grab something to eat so you can be ready for the first official party of the night. Due to the weather, our PJ party was moved from the pool deck to the Manor. You can come casual or risque…it is an all-adult cruise, you know. Some were even dressed in costumes. There is competition for the best-dressed so if you are competitive, think outside the box. The Scarlet Night is on the pool deck where the Happening Crew performs and then it becomes a full-on dance party. Ours was a little different since Boy George was on board. He DJ’d for the night while the Happening Crew performed. Instead of the typical Captain’s Dinner that everyone gets all dressed up for, Virgin’s twist is a Scarlet night where everyone has on red, the lighting is red all night and everyone has a great time bopping around the ship.
Other forms of entertainment are comedy shows, magic shows, karaoke (privately in the Groupie or amongst the other sailors on certain nights), the casino, the Voyage Vinyl which is a record shop, the Social Club which is an open area where you can plan board games, the group exercise classes, and more.
However, if you are an early riser like myself, you’ll have the ship to yourself to explore. Even the exercise classes don’t start until mid-day. So grab some breakfast, enjoy the pool deck, and then get ready to be entertained around 11AM.
